Waves have just announced some new hardware controllers called "Icon platform" for their eMotion LV1 Live mixing console system which looks to be co-operative venture with Icon Pro Audio.
It's a rather interesting development when you consider the LV1 was initially intended for control via touchscreen, perhaps this is a response to the users who (like me) prefer the more tactile feeling of hardware controllers over touch screens?
BUT... after a little more investigation and judging by Icon Pro Audio's website this is actually a much more open product range than being just for eMotion LV1 and appears to run via the Mackie Control and HUI protocols just as the rest of the Icon product range have done in the past. Perhaps the Waves version has custom firmware to make it work with eMotion LV1 where as the Icon Pro Audio Version does not ? hopefully we'll find out more in time.
The choice of USB connection rather than RJ45/Ethernet is a little confusing as a waves product considering the rest of the Waves Soundgrig/DigiCo hardware is all inter-connectable via RJ45/Ethernet, but this appears to be more of a rebranded product line of Icon's own designs rather than built for purpose and exclusive to Waves none the less its nice to see these units available, I do have to say for hardware these units are very attractively priced !

Icon Platform D2 Display for eMotion LV1
Modular LCD display for the Icon Platform M and Platform X control surfaces, for extra channel parameter viewing options when mixing with the eMotion LV1 mixer.
Platform D2 installs easily to your Platform M or X controllers. The large tilt-able backlit LCD display makes it easier to monitor channel control values, plugin parameters and more.
You can view one parameter on Platform D2, while viewing other parameters on your computer screen – or you can create more flexible setups, freeing you to position the main computer screen wherever you want relative to your Icon Platform faders.
