Sonnox has been quite busy the last couple years. First they took on the task of updating their existing line of plug-ins. Then last year they released an amazing Dynamic Eq. Now they have released a new pair of plug-ins under the VoxDoubler series named Thicken and Widen.
There have been several times in recent years when the release of certain software plug-In's have generated wild claims of no longer needing to own and maintain analogue audio outboard gear or continue to work OTB (outside of the box) many times this has been part of the marketing hype to try and peak interest in a highly saturated marketplace.
I'm sure I don't need to name brand names who have become rather well know for both marketing hype and or generating widely held opinion of the top spot's when it comes to the sound quality and realism of an emulated or modelled piece of vintage analogue outboard hardware so I'll leave that to your own thoughts and opinions.
Softube, Makers of the Console 1 hardware controller and classic mixing console emulation suites have just released and update that enables select Universal Audio DSP powered plugins to be used within the Console 1 environment.
This now means you can swap out one of the console 1 EQ's or Compressors with one of your favourite UAD alternatives.
Obviously you are rquired to own a Universal Audio DSP hardware device and associated plugins but its a great way to expand your options if you already have or are thinking about owning both.
About UAD Thunderbolt Compatibility with Windows 10 Systems
UAD v9.0.0 introduces Windows 10 PC compatibility with all Thunderbolt-equipped Apollo and UAD-2 products (Apollo 8, Apollo 8p, Apollo 16 MkII, Apollo Twin Thunderbolt, UAD-2 Satellite Thunderbolt, and first-generation silver Apollo/Apollo 16 models equipped with a Thunderbolt Option Card).
Apollo Thunderbolt models can be combined with UAD-2 PCIe cards and UAD-2 Satellite (Thunderbolt, FireWire, and USB models). For details, see this article.
Both the original Thunderbolt 1 Option Card and the newer Thunderbolt 2 Option Card for Apollo are compatible.
Apollo Thunderbolt cannot be combined with Apollo FireWire or Apollo Twin USB (multiple Apollo connection types are incompatible).
Connecting more than one Apollo unit via Thunderbolt is currently incompatible. This feature will be available in a future software release.
Please note: The purpose of beta testing is to eliminate bugs, crashes, and unstable application behaviour ahead of the official release. As such, you may experience some of these issues while using Native Access during the beta phase. The Native Access beta currently only manages KOMPLETE Instruments and Effects.
Having a mix bus lets you apply plugins to your entire mix without applying it to any sample mixes. This allows you to use the A B technique.
A sample mix can be placed inside of your DAW that skips the mix bus and goes directly to your speakers. This keeps the sample mix true.
If you apply the plugins to your master track, the plugins will also affect the sample track. Take a look at this video to see how mixing with a mix bus can help you improve your workflow and ultimately, lead to better mixes.
This guide shows you how to perform a clean uninstall of Waves plugins making sure nothing is left behind.
